Who’s another PUL player you love to play with, and why? I’ve been so lucky to play with so many amazing people over the years.
What’s a skill you’re working on right now? Making calm decisions
What do you do other than play Frisbee (e.g. work, fun, family)? Self-isolate

Derek Doucet – one of our newest Junior coaches

Name? Derek Doucet
Hometown? Blind River
Years Playing Ultimate? 16
Favourite 2019 ultimate memory? Flying a little close to the sun with Gravity when we started to find our rhythm and flow as a team. I loved that we found our rhythm through fun and laughter and using all members of our team. Collectively we were playing some really nice frisbee.
Favourite thing about PUL? Getting the chance to have a really great workout and be social with friends on both ends of the field.
Why did you start playing Ultimate? My brother-in-law played at McGill and when we moved Toronto from Korea, he put together a team of friends
Why do you still play Ultimate? I love that it’s a great workout and the timing of the game. A second too early and you don’t maximize your advantage and second too late, and it’s a turn and good luck catching a guy like Marcel or Max when they go…
Who’s another PUL player you love to play with, and why? Erica Chellew, frisbee are our date nights. You can’t beat a sunny evening in the summer, running around with all of your friends and running “Love Boat” (when one partner throws to the other for the goal). That may sound weird but it’s a Gravity thing…
What’s a skill you’re working on right now? I’m trying to better understand the strategy side of the game and improve my accuracy and consistency in my throws.
What do you do other than play Frisbee (e.g. work, fun, family)? I really appreciate spending time with Chellew and our kids and have really enjoyed getting back to basketball after a ten year hiatus. I have also enjoyed coaching with the Ptbo Power organization at the U11 boys level.

Ken Hoard – is another new addition to our Junior Coaches.

Favourite 2019 ultimate memory? Just playing with my friends week after week.
Favourite thing about PUL? Such a great community
Why did you start playing Ultimate? It’s more social and creative than rowing (don’t get me wrong, l still love rowing)
Why do you still play Ultimate? It’s a great way to clear your head of the everyday grind for a couple of hours
Who’s another PUL player you love to play with, and why? Nick Faulkner, he has recently come back to playing Ultimate and his enthusiasm and energy are infectious.
What’s a skill you’re working on right now? Cleaner handler cuts
What do you do other than play Frisbee (e.g. work, fun, family)? I’m a physio at PRHC in the Hand Therapy Clinic who likes to Travel with his family when I’m fortunate enough to do so. When I can’t travel I row my single and garden.
